Professional Advisors

Your clients rely on you for advice.

When a situation involves risk outside your expertise, we’re the specialist you bring to the table — without surrendering the relationship.

Fee-only planners

Working alongside fee-only planners

Many fee-only financial planners and advisors don’t specialize in life insurance, long-term disability or long-term care. We don’t manage money, so we’re never competing for your client. We help your clients understand and put the right protection in place, from reviewing the coverage they already have to implementing new coverage, and we report back to you.

If a client has sent you their Protection Map, it already shows their four financial risks and where the gaps are. That’s a good place for our first conversation.

How we work with you

We work alongside your team, not around it.

We don’t manage money. Financial Risk Partners is not an investment manager or an RIA — your relationship with your client’s assets stays exactly where it is.

Common starting points

The financial risks we advise on.

These are the questions that land on your desk — and sit outside your day-to-day expertise.

Your client’s life insurance

My client owns a policy no one has reviewed in years. Is it still doing its job?

We review what it was meant to accomplish, how it’s performing and whether it still fits — and report back to you and your client.

Another agent is proposing a large permanent policy. Is it right for my client?

We evaluate it on its own terms: what problem it solves, what it assumes, and the alternatives.

My client has a difficult health history. Can they still get coverage on fair terms?

Complex underwriting is part of what we do. We know how to present a difficult case.

Your business-owner clients

Is the buy-sell agreement funded to work?

There may be a document. We check whether the money is there to carry it out.

What happens to the business if my client — or a key person — dies or becomes disabled?

We measure what’s at stake: lost value, the buyout, business debt and the cash to keep operating.

How does my client keep the leaders the business can’t replace?

Executive benefit planning built around what it costs the business — and what makes staying worthwhile.

Your clients’ estate and care plans

Will the estate have the cash to work the way the documents intend?

We work out how much cash the estate would need and evaluate how, or whether, to fund it — alongside the attorney and CPA.

Does the insurance line up with the trust and beneficiary designations?

Ownership and beneficiaries set up years apart often don’t match the plan. We check.

How will my client pay for home health care or long-term care — on their terms?

We work out the cost and compare the insurance options against paying for it themselves.

If any of these are on your desk, that’s where the first conversation starts.

Opinion is not expertise.

Whether you practice law, tax, financial planning or wealth management, life insurance touches your clients’ plans — and most professionals have an opinion about it. Few have the training and experience behind that opinion. Financial risk management and life insurance are our expertise. We bring it to your client’s plan, alongside yours.

Not a sales relationship

We don’t sell insurance. We help people who need it get it right.

There’s a right way and a wrong way to acquire life insurance — and we see a lot of it put in place the wrong way.

When your client needs coverage, we help them acquire it and manage it correctly: designed for the problem, underwritten well, and reviewed over time. When they don’t need it, we say so. If you’ve already decided what’s needed, we implement it the same way.

We represent the market, not one insurance company — so the product, the company and the design are chosen for your client, not for us.

And when a client is presented with a significant permanent policy, we ask what matters: what problem it solves, whether it actually solves it, and whether there are better alternatives out there for your client.

How you engage us

Three ways to bring FRP in

You don’t have to enter a bundled insurance relationship to work with us. Engage us for the role you actually need — and we’ll be clear about how we’re compensated in each before the engagement begins.

Recommendation only

We evaluate the situation and provide the analysis and recommendations. You and your client take it from there.

Professional fee.

Implementation only

You already know what needs to be accomplished. We handle design, underwriting, carrier selection and implementation.

Compensation may come primarily from carrier commissions.

Recommendation and implementation

We perform the analysis and recommendation. If you and your client choose to proceed, we also implement it.

Professional fees and any applicable carrier compensation, disclosed.

Separating the analysis from the implementation is the point. The work of determining what a situation needs should not depend on what gets sold afterward.

Your clients’ life insurance

Your clients’ policies drift too.

Most life insurance is bought once and never looked at again. Costs climb, the policy doesn’t perform the way the original projections showed, the agent who sold it moves on — and no one on the client’s team is watching it.

We review it with you, report to you and your client, and never take over the relationship.
